Fluxus Art Projects financially supports projects that promote the contemporary French art scene in the UK and the contemporary British art scene in France.

Fluxus Art Projects apporte un soutien financier à des projets visant à promouvoir la scène artistique française contemporaine au Royaume-Uni et la scène artistique britannique contemporaine en France.

Eligibility Criteria

Critères d'éligibilité

For exhibition projects:

• Affiliated to the field of visual arts in the broadest sense across all disciplines.

• Projects by living France-based and French artists in the UK and UK-based and British artists in France.

• Applications must be submitted by the organising institution or association and not by the artists themselves. Qualifying organisations fall into the following categories: non-for-profit art centres, museums, cultural institutions, research centres, online projects, artists' publications.

• Sums allocated range from £1,000 to £10,000. We do not support 100% funding of projects. Grants must not exceed 50% of the expenses but must represent at least 5% of the project's total budget. Eligible expenses fall in the following categories: production, fees, transport, travel, accommodation, communication, publication.

Pour les projets d'exposition :

• Relatifs au domaine des arts visuels au sens large, toutes disciplines confondues.

• Menés par des artistes français.es ou basé.es en France au Royaume-Uni et des artistes britanniques ou basé.es au Royaume-Uni en France.

• Les candidatures doivent être soumises par l'institution ou l'association organisatrice, et non par les artistes elles/eux-mêmes. Les organismes éligibles relèvent des catégories suivantes : centres d'art à but non lucratif, musées, institutions culturelles, centres de recherche, projets en ligne, publications d'artistes.

• Les montants alloués vont de 1 000 £ à 10 000 £. Nous ne finançons pas les projets à 100 %. Les subventions ne doivent pas dépasser 50 % des dépenses mais doivent représenter au moins 5 % du budget total du projet. Les dépenses éligibles relèvent des catégories suivantes : production, honoraires, transport, déplacements, hébergement, communication, publication.

For curatorial research trips:

• Applications must be made directly by the curators.

• The candidates must be French or based in France for at least five years / British or based in the UK for at least five years; have a minimum of three years of professional experience or provide evidence of significant professional practice within an art organisation or as an independent curator in the field of contemporary art.

• Applicants affiliated with institutions must present authorisation from their institution to travel for the proposed research.

• The grant amount for each curatorial research trip is £1,000.

Please note that Fluxus Art Projects will prioritise innovative practices and the production of new works.

Pour les voyages de recherche curatoriale :

• Les candidatures doivent être déposées directement par les commissaires d'exposition.

• Les candidat.es doivent être de nationalité française ou résider en France depuis au moins cinq ans / être de nationalité britannique ou résider au Royaume-Uni depuis au moins cinq ans ; justifier d'au moins trois ans d'expérience professionnelle ou apporter la preuve d'une pratique professionnelle significative au sein d'une institution artistique ou en tant que commissaire indépendant.e dans le domaine de l'art contemporain.

• Les candidat.es affilié.es à une institution doivent présenter une autorisation à voyager dans le cadre de la recherche proposée.

• Le montant de la bourse pour chaque voyage de recherche curatoriale est de 1 000 £.

Fluxus Art Projects issues its own call for applications, twice a year. The first round of applications, for projects to be held between January and June, closes in November of the previous year. The second round, for projects happening between July and December of the current year, closes in May.

Twice a year, before the application period begins, an email will be widely circulated to art professionals in France and the United Kingdom. Deadlines will be prominently displayed on this website and announced on our social networks.

The call for applications is aimed at professional artists working in the field of visual arts who have already presented their work in several professional venues identified by contemporary art networks.

Now in their fifth year, the Magnetic residencies are organised on a tandem basis, pairing a French region with a UK nation. Artists can only apply for the residency paired with their region or nation. Please consult the tandems below to find out which residency you are eligible for.

• Applicants based in England are invited to make one application only and can either apply to Capc, Bordeaux or Bétonsalon - Centre for art and research, Paris.

• Applications are not open to students except for PhD candidates.

• Artists in both France and the UK are considered to be based in a region/nation if they have an address within that region/nation.

• All applications must be written in English; applicants based in Wales have the option of submitting an application in Welsh if they wish to.

• Joint applications (duo, collective) are not accepted.

If you wish to apply, you will have to submit via the form below:

• an artistic proposal outlining the relevance and singularity of your practice and research interests within the context and focus of the host institution you are eligible to apply for;

• a short text demonstrating your motivation for applying to an international residency at this point in your career and the benefits it will bring.

Please make sure to read the host institutions' introduction documents on the Residency page before applying.

The Fluxus-CPGA Prize at Frieze London's call for applications is open until 28 September 2026.

Galleries of all nationalities are eligible to apply, provided they present the work of one artist from the French scene at their stand, as part of a group or solo exhibition.

Please submit the following information below:

• Name and contact details of the gallery
• Name of the artist
• Number of works by the artist to be exhibited on the stand
• Short biography of the artist (200 words)
• Brief presentation of the gallery (200 words)
• 1 or 2 images of the works to be exhibited on the stand

-> A gallery may apply for one artist only.

-> If an artist is nominated for the second consecutive year by the same gallery, they will not be shortlisted. Last year’s winning artist will not be shortlisted.

-> The artist must be from France and/or have been based there for at least one year.
-> The nominated works must be physically exhibited at the fair on the day of selection.

The jury, comprising five leading figures from the British and French art worlds, will visit Frieze London on Thursday 15 October to review submissions. The winner will be announced on Friday 16 October at a special event in London.

Participation is free of charge. Only complete applications that fully comply with the criteria set out will be considered.
